Their Beginnings And Eventual Decline
The company started focusing on motorcycles after the Second World War. They previously worked with aircraft, but motorcycles allowed them to continue to use their engineering and design expertise.
Their first motorcycle, MV 98 was released to the public in October 1945. The company wanted to name their first ride Vespa 98, however that name was already registered. Of course, we are all familiar with the Vespa scooters. The MV 98 could be purchased in either touring or economical versions. The engine was a 98 cc two-stroke single cylinder.

One of their most important bikes is the MV Agusta 750 Sport America. It was made from 1970 until 1975. This was the company’s attempt to gain more of a presence in the United States. It should also be noted that this option was considered to be pretty expensive.MV Agusta experienced some financial difficulty and ended up closing. However, the company was bought in 1997 by Cagiva. They then released new bikes until 2004 when the company was then bought by a Malaysian carmaker called Proton. The company still experienced financial difficulty and Proton later sold it to an Italian financing company.
